Your Daily Giant 7/17/2013

Today's Daily Giant comes from the History of Dearborn and Ohio Counties Indiana, 1885 pg 584. From the book,

"There is a large mound in Mr. Allen's field about twenty feet high, sixty feet in diameter at the base, which contains a greater proportion of bones than any one I ever before examined, as almost every shovel full of dirt would contain several fragments of a human skeleton. When on Whitewater, I obtained the assistance of several of the inhabitants for the purpose of making a thorough examination of the internal structure of these monuments of the ancient populousness of the country. We examined from fifteen to twenty. In some, whose height were from ten to fifteen feet, we could not find more than four or five skeletons. In one not the least appearance of a human bone was to be found. Others were so full of bones, as to warrant the belief that they originally contained at least 100 dead bodies of children of different ages and the full grown, appeared to have been piled together promiscuously. We found several skull, leg and thigh bones, which plainly indicate their possessors were men of gigantic stature. The skull of one skeleton was one-fourth of an inch thick; and the teeth were remarkably even, sound and handsome, all firmly planted. The fore teeth were very deep and not so wide as those of the generality of the white people. Indeed, there seemed a great degree of regularity in the form of the teeth in all the mounds."

When the colonists pushed westward into the interior of the new country they were greeted with an almost inconceivable number of often massive earthen pyramids, geometric enclosures and burial mounds. At least 100,000 in number were to be found. The majority were leveled for farming, plundered for artifacts and often the skeletal remains crumbled to dust, were moved around as curiosities and lost or were packed up and shipped to the Smithsonian. In Martha's Vineyard, Ma. a historical document speaks of how there was a large dump site were people from around the island would hastily throw bones they dug up. Historical documents of the island describe a seven foot giant with double rows of teeth found as well as a giant jawbone that fit over the finders face. The town History of Deerfield speaks of ancient bones that were unearthed being used to make roads, the town history also speaks of an eight foot skeleton with double rows of teeth being found. In Ohio, a giant skull uncovered in a burial mound was used as a soccer ball by kids and smashed to pieces. These already extremely fragile remains were often carelessly handled by their finders. The bottom line is that the unprecedented opening of a massive amount of burial mounds has already happened. Skeletons are not a renewable resource and the bulk have been obliterated, lost, in private collections, repatriated or in the possession of the Smithsonian. That does not mean that this mystery will not be solved. Most certainly giant remains will surface or be uncovered most likely in a country that does not have laws used to prevent this information from coming forward. The evidence that already exists borders on mind bending. That anyone can dismiss this all as some fantasy is beyond comprehension.
