Your Daily Giant 8/11/2013
Today's Daily Giant comes from the Quarterly Magazine Now and Then, Volumes 2 and 3 1888 pg 217. The following is reported,
"The Muncie Daily Times a year or two ago stated that "One of these mounds located three miles from Muncie was opened not long ago and found to be a sepulchral mound and contained the skeleton of a man who in life must have been a giant, at least nine feet high." This "big Indian story" would be hard to believe if giants about as great in stature did not exist in recent times."
Not really sure what the author is talking about, not many of my friends are "at least nine feet high". Although some of these finds were not made in burial mounds, the majority were. The earthen pyramids, mounds and geometric forms of the Mound Builders are intimately connected to this mystery. I certainly don't have all the answers but one question I have is why are the accomplishments of the Adena, Hopewell and Mississippian Mound Building cultures not more widely taught in our schools. The engineering, mathematics, geometry and astronomical alignments associated with many of these structures is widely accepted among professionals. Even without the controversy of giant skeleton finds, I believe most people find the subject fascinating. It is becoming obvious that the mysteries of Ancient America is a hot topic based on the success of shows like America Unearthed. My belief is that people love a mystery not because it is easier to believe than good hard science but because they intuitively know that the current theories are incorrect.
